A large number of students at Ladakh Rigjung Public School do not come from Leh town itself, they travel from some of the most remote and far-flung villages across the region, places where roads are often cut off for months during winter, where the nearest school may be a difficult day's journey away, and where families survive on modest farming or herding incomes.
Many of these children come from economically weaker backgrounds. For their families, sending a child to school in Leh often means significant sacrifice, covering travel, boarding, books, and daily essentials on very limited means. Yet they make this sacrifice because they believe, as we do, that education is the surest path out of hardship and into opportunity.
Founded with the noble vision of uplifting the weaker sections of society, LRPS has always tried to keep its doors open to these students, through subsidised fees, scholarships, and community support. But the need is greater than what the school alone can provide. Your support directly helps a child from a remote Ladakhi village receive the education they deserve.
Our students journey from villages scattered across the Leh district, many hours from school, across some of the most challenging terrain in the world. A few of the regions represented at LRPS:
Your donation goes directly toward tuition support, school supplies, transport assistance, and essential resources for students from remote and underprivileged backgrounds. Every contribution, large or small, helps a child stay in school.
